We've got some great shows coming your way, Houston. Keep your eyes on the concert calendar to find out where you can get your live soul music fix next. This Friday, June 18, roll on down the Metro line to catch us at Sidelines Sports Bar (that's 2016 Main St.) in Midtown. Show starts at 7:30pm.

Now, there's a hot event coming up on July 10 that you need to be a part of. This will be a soul music showcase featuring Collective Hallucination and Tru Sol at the new venue, OmniCentral, just off of I-45 and Scott St. In fact, here's the flyer on the left; right-click it to get more details. Rollin' into June.

Tru Sol started off the month with a short set at Tha House. We saw plently new faces as well as faces we hadn't seen in a while--great to see you out. Saturday, June 5, we take it to the Muddie Waters in Pearland.

As you're out and about in Houston, you'll see some familiar faces performing around: Charlie Silva who does the percussion with Tru Sol, can also be adding his rhythmic touch with college-rock artist, Spencer, and jam-groovers, the Free Radicals. Jose Madrigal and Maurice Bullock, handling guitar and bass respectively, can be found funkin' out with Punkin from Pluto.

San Antonio, Tru Sol's a coming..

This Saturday, May 29, Tru Sol stars in the Cuz and Company production, "A Quiet Storm from H-Town", as it makes it San Antonio debut at the Continental Cafe and Events Center (6390 Fairdale Drive). Along with Tru Sol, is pianst/songwriter Annetta Haynes and poets, Marie Brown and Cherokee-D. We're looking forward to this event. Do tell your friends in San Antonio to be there! This Friday, we're bringing the urban-acoustic groove to Sidelines Sports Bar @ 2016 Main, in midtown Houston. We'll be going on by 9:30pm, so wear your throwbacks and come kick back with hot wings and soul jams, including new ones we know you'll love! In fact, Sidelines is on the Metro train line, so you can make in time! Also, there's no cover, so no excuses: come on out!


We appreciate you taking the time to vote for us as Best R&B/Soul band in the Houston Press Music Awards this year, as well as voting "Baby Girl" or "Sensitive Man", as Song of the Year. However, if you haven't found time to mail in that ballot found in the Press on page 78, or by doing it online, here's a big party event this weekend at which you can cast that ballot. This Sunday night, May 16, the Houston Press is having a ballot party at the new downtown venue, The Meridan. The party starts at 8:15pm and there's a $5 cover. This will be a new trend for the Houston Press as well as the scene in general, so because you love live music of all genres, come out and show your love by voting.
